Never got above the high 30's but we all had a good time. All four of us.

Here is a quick report...

Departed Cedar Grove and headed towards Verona and the Caldwells. Snuck
through Essex Fells and into Roseland via some quiet residential areas.
Made our way over to Morris County and the Great Swamp but not before
passing the Short Hills Mall. Spent about an hour over in those parts.
Came around and into Somerset County and past the "historic" Wagner's Farm
area... Funny. It wasn't historic when I was there as a kid climbing all
over their stuff.. Anyhow... Shot down to downtown Warren and had a quick
warm-up session at the local Dunkin Donuts. Everyone seemed okay for the
most part so we headed off again. Took Warrenville Road over to Rock Road
West and into the Washington Rock area. Stopped for a second and then
headed off. Passed the largest house I've ever seen (under construction -
looked like a small apartment complex) and headed over to Watchung. Passed
down towards North Plainfield and onto Johnson Drive. Carefully made our
way up the hill and over the "13 Bumps road"
(http://www.weirdnj.com/stories/_roads06.asp) otherwise known as Johnson
Drive. Stopped for a second at the top to take in the view and wait for one
straggler and then headed off... Dodged some rough roads in that area and
then made our way to the Watchung Reservation. Did some small loops in
there and then headed off onto Glenside Avenue towards Summit. Once in
Summit, we stopped near Briant Park and split up. Our long distance rider
of the day, Mr. HD from Hopewell, NJ I think, split off to go back to the
Watchung Reservation and explore a bit more. Mr. VTX headed home. The rest
of us headed through Millburn and got caught behind this really stinky car.
Some fool was driving around in their white Toyota with the emergency brake
on. I was waiting for the rear right tire to explode into flames...
Finally, we broke free of that situation and headed through the South
Mountain Reservation. Mr. BMW split off towards South Orange and I headed
home. Walked in the door around 2:30 PM or so. 80 miles. Not bad
considering we averaged 30-40 MPH by my best guess. Very relaxing and not
too much traffic today.

Hope to repeat the same ride sometime in the future but focus on the western
half of Somerset County.

Hope everyone has a great weekend - what is left of it. Ad if you are
looking for a ride tomorrow, there is always the Polar Bear Grand Tour event
happening at Mignella's Restaurant in Hopewell, NJ (08525). See
http://polarbeargrandtour.com/rides.htm for more details.

See you all on the road soon!
