It is with tremendous sadness that I must report the passing of my friend
Steve Furtenbacher.

I know a good number of you have been in contact with me since May about his
condition... But it would literally be impossible for me to track you down
individually so this message is going out to the whole group.

This is the gentleman who I would occasionally ride with on our Vulcan 750's
when I had one. We only rode together a few times, but we seemed to hit it
off as friends from day 1. I wouldn't say we were super close, but I felt
we had what I would personally call an "eternal connection" which needed
more time to develop.

As I reported to many last May, Steve was on his yearly motorcycle trip with
another friend when he was hit by a car in Virginia. He was in the hospital
until a few months ago due to spinal cord and other injuries that left him
paralyzed from the neck down except for the most basic arm movements, etc.
He was in Kessler where Christopher Reeve stayed for a while and finally was
able to go home to his family a little while back. Recently, he had been
suffering with other side effects of his circumstances - all of which have
led to his passing.

Please keep his wife Danielle and his daughter Christine in your thoughts
and prayers.

If you are in NJ, you can attend the viewing this Tuesday (3/28) at the
following location:

Shooks Cedar Grove Funeral Home
2-4 & 7-9 PM
486 Pompton Avenue
Cedar Grove, NJ 07009
Phone Number: (973) 239-1489

My wife and I will be at the 7-9 PM viewing and would love to see as much
support show up as possible for obvious reasons.

If anyone wants to send cards or other items for the family, they can be
sent to me and I will forward them to the family. I'm not sure how much
time they will be spending in their home going forward as I imagine they
will coordinate support and living arrangements with the rest of the
extended family somehow.

Items can be sent to me at my shop as it is a more reliable location for me
to receive items than my home is:

Joe Agro, Jr.
AutoDrill
50 Division Avenue
Millington, NJ 07946
(908) 542-0244

I will give anything that comes in directly to the family as quickly as
possible.

Thank you all for your prayers, kind words and support for this family for
the better part of 10 months. Personally, I'll be riding with you guys this
weekend focusing on him, his family and those I care about most. I suggest
that everyone spend their next ride thinking about what is really important
in life. We can be the most careful people in the world, but someone else
can make a mistake and it won't matter whether you are on a bike, in a car
or truck or standing on a street corner... Sometimes life isn't fair. Do
all the good you can as often as you can for as many as you can.
